From a Childhood of Poverty to Software and Education Entrepreneurship in Europe: The Inspiring Story of Mehmet Can Seyhan

Mehmet Can Seyhan was born in Türkiye in 1994 and faced life’s challenges at a very young age. Coming from a Kurdish family, Seyhan lost his father when he was only 4 years old. Growing up in financial hardship, he had to fight for his education and future under difficult circumstances.

After primary school, due to his family’s financial struggles, Seyhan had to take a two-year break from school and work to support his family. However, these hardships did not stop him from pursuing his goals. During both high school and university, he continued to work while studying, building his own path through determination and resilience.

After graduating as a software engineer in Türkiye, Mehmet Can Seyhan began his professional career in 2017. He quickly developed his skills and experience in the technology sector, and in 2019, he moved to Sweden to continue his career as a software developer on an international level.

Known by the nickname “King of Sweden,” a title he personally uses, Seyhan later became widely recognized by the public as the “Kurdish King of Sweden.” This nickname became more than a personal brand; it turned into a symbol of migration, hard work, education, and entrepreneurship.

In 2021, Seyhan took a major step in entrepreneurship by establishing software and education academies in Sweden, France, and Türkiye. Operating under the name Yurotek, his initiatives focused on developing software projects for clients while also offering job- and internship-guaranteed software training programs.

To date, Mehmet Can Seyhan has helped more than 5,000 people graduate from software training programs and supported all of them in starting careers as software developers. Through his education, software development, and employment-focused model, he has made a significant impact on people seeking opportunities in the technology sector.

Today, Seyhan manages all of these operations from Stockholm, Sweden. Speaking four languages — Kurdish, Turkish, English, and Swedish — he stands out with his multicultural identity and international vision.

The story of a child from a poor family who once had to pause his education, and who later became an entrepreneur helping thousands of people enter the software industry in Europe, makes Mehmet Can Seyhan’s journey truly inspiring.

His story is not only a personal success story, but also a powerful example of determination, hard work, education, and transformation through technology.
