SMHI is drastically expanding its alert regarding the risk of forest and land fires. Starting Tuesday, almost the entire Norrland coast will be affected, and during the week the fire risk area may cover an even larger area in the north.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Viktor Bergman, meteorologist on duty at SMHI, points out that the country is facing a period of high pressure, drought and heat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\nIn large parts of Norrland, the ground is still wet, but if you look even further ahead, the fire risk will probably extend to the inland areas of Norrland as well, he says.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
Previously, southern Sweden was covered up to southern Dalarna and G\u00e4strikland. But SMHI is now including almost the entire Norrland coast for the next few days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Currently, northern Gotland is not affected. The same applies to an area in northwestern Sk\u00e5ne up to southern Halland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, Viktor Bergman does not rule out that the latter area could also be affected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\nIt’s one of the few places today that has cloudy weather and rain, but when we have this dry and warmer weather coming, that could change later in the week.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
In several places, the fire risk is extreme and Viktor Bergman urges people to check local fire bans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
