Croatia didn’t have to look long for a new national team coach. Just a week after Zlatko Dalic resigned, the Croatian Football Federation has announced that Slaven Bilic will take over the role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The loss in the round of 16 of the World Cup against Portugal was the end point for Zlatko Dalic’s successful spell as coach of the Croatian national team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ten days after the departure, it is clear who will take over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Welcome back, Slaven Bilic,” the Croatian Football Federation writes on X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He now hopes to persuade 41-year-old superstar Luka Modric to continue in the national team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n“Of course I would like him to continue,” Bilic told Sportske Novosti.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
He previously led the Croatian national team between 2006 and 2012. His most recent coaching assignment was with Saudi al-Fateh, which he left in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
